(Saco, Maine) Maine Water recently donated more than $11,000 to 19 food pantries across the state, in each of its service territories.
The donations are in recognition of the tremendous work that these organizations do to support the citizens in need in the communities. From Biddeford and Saco, to Camden, Millinocket, Skowhegan, and many other towns, the funds were distributed just prior to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
“Hunger is an issue throughout our state and is not isolated to only certain areas,” stated Judy Wallingford, President of Maine Water. “We serve our Maine communities proudly with water service, and know how important the basic necessities can be, especially as we head toward another Maine winter.”
In addition to the dollar donations, a food collection was taken up at a recent employee event and many boxes of holiday “fixin’s” were delivered to the Skowhegan area to help with the efforts in distributing Thanksgiving baskets for those in need. Steve Soucy, a field service representative from Skowhegan, spearheaded this effort.
“Steve’s spirit of giving was contagious to all of us!” stated Wallingford.
