Maine Water Donates $3,000 to Local Food Pantries

The need at local food pantries is acute. We hope our donations encourage other businesses throughout Maine to pitch in.

(Biddeford, Maine) The Maine Water Company recently donated $3,000 to the Stone Soup Pantry, Friends of Community Action, and the Saco Food Pantry. Judy Wallingford, president of Maine Water, said she appreciates all that the local food pantries do for the community.

“Thank goodness for the dedicated volunteers that serve the Biddeford and Saco area day after day. The need for donation to area pantries remains acute, and we hope our donation encourages others in the business community to lend a helping hand,” Wallingford said.

The Stone Soup Food Pantry is an all-volunteer organization, and is located on the lower level of 180 Main Street. The phone number is 207-283-0055. It is open on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The pantry supplies mostly produce and bread products, and when available, some furniture and clothing. Friends of Community Action Food Pantry is located at 162 Elm Street in Biddeford. It is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Don Bisson is the manager, and the phone number is 282-4771. The Saco Food Pantry is a nonprofit, 501 (c (3) organization that accepts cash and physical donations of food. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and the last Tuesday of every month from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. For more information visit: www.SacoFoodPantry.org.
